    Virginia Legislative Information System, Code of Virginia — surgical_technology

    Code of Virginia section 54.1-2956.12 says no person shall hold himself out to be a surgical technologist or use that title, or use the designation S.T. or any variation, unless the person is certified by the Board. It says the Board shall certify an applicant who presents satisfactory evidence of one of the listed paths. One path is successful completion of a training program for surgical technology during the person's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States. Another path is an accredited program plus a current credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. The section does not name 68D. 'Shall certify' an applicant who presents satisfactory evidence is the statute's wording, not a finding that 68D training is that evidence.
