    Florida Statutes section 401.27 (2025) says a person who wants to be certified as an emergency medical technician or paramedic applies to the department, and that an EMT applicant must have completed a training program the department approves as equivalent to the most recent EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum or the National EMS Education Standards. It also says the applicant must, within 2 years after program completion, have passed an examination developed or required by the department, and must hold a current American Heart Association CPR course card, an American Red Cross CPR course card, or an equivalent defined by department rule. Paramedic applicants must hold advanced cardiac life support course completion from the American Heart Association or an equivalent defined by rule. The section does not name 68W and does not say military training replaces the examination.

    Florida Statutes section 456.024 (2025), Members of Armed Forces and veterans; spouses; licensure, says a person is eligible for licensure as a health care practitioner in stated military or spouse situations, and that for that subsection health care practitioner includes a person licensed under part III of chapter 401. Subsection (4)(b) says the board or the department shall issue a license to a person who submits a complete application and, among other paths, is a military health care practitioner in a profession for which licensure is not required to practice in the United States Armed Forces, if the person submits evidence of military training or experience substantially equivalent to the requirements for licensure in Florida in that profession and evidence of a passing score on the appropriate examination of a national or regional standards organization if that examination is required. The section does not print 68W, does not name the National Registry, and does not say that 68W training is substantially equivalent.
